Wood Processing

Forests cover more than a half of Latvia’s land, which is twice more than the average forestation numbers globally. Maximum profit comes when the industry generates the highest possible value-added. Moreover, successful development of wood processing triggers also the welfare of locals and creates more jobs in other industries, thus contributing to the general prosperity of the region.

In January 2018, AmberBirch, SIA, started building a wood processing plant in Krustpils Region, and in the second half of 2019 it started operation, becoming one of the biggest companies in the region, a significant exporter and an employer providing well-paid jobs for 85 people in well-equipped facilities. The company is not resting on its laurels and plans to implement ambitious projects in the coming years: a decision has been made to invest over 40 million euros, which will allow doubling the production capacity of birch veneer and starting the production of higher quality veneer, as well as expanding the range of products. It is planned that by the second half of 2025, AmberBirch, SIA will be able to produce up to 90,000 cubic meters of veneer per year.
